Blog on

Welcome to blog.joshdare.com!

Other fuckers may have some Google-sponsored diatribe, but check me out - IT'S GOT MY FUCKING NAME IN THE DOMAIN. I'm more than a bit chuffed in myself right now.

So I've had joshdare.com for a while now (and do feel free to drop the main site and, you know, pay me money to write something for you) but I've just been struck by the sudden irrestible urge to chuck a blog on it. Just coz I can.

Although I've run a couple of separate blogs for work before, they've been entirely half-hearted affairs. It's kinda lame to 'blog' from the perspective of a corporation without sounding like a complete sell out. Y'know, the whole, "OHMIGOD guys check out the new issue it's so awesome" etc.

(Plus, an unfortunate incident involving me getting into trouble for posting photos of a guy who has two dicks dampened my blogging spirits. You look me square in the eye and tell me you wouldn't wanna see that.)

It's also kinda hard to pull it in and make it personal, which kinda defeats the purpose of having a blog. People aren't really desperately gagging to read about what a company slash product has been up to. They're inanimate / not that freakin' interesting.

But, in the same breath, I've been kinda scared about starting my own blog. I suppose that's what held me back so long: now I've got to be interesting. Plus I'm used to writing with an intended audience in mind, and this could be going to anyone and everyone - but probably no one, which is why I have this sensation of chatting to a brick wall right now. It's primary school all over again.

I do want to practice my writing though. I want to formulate my thoughts and have them read. And if they only reach one person - just one person - then... it would have been a complete waste of my fucking time.

Unless that person just happens to be an editor with money to burn.

Until then, I've got a barrage of random thoughts and rants. Hope you stick around.
